Insurance Claims on Real Estate

At First Guaranty Bank, we understand that the process of repairing your home or business after damages can be stressful. We’re committed to helping you access your insurance proceeds as quickly and easily as possible.

Couple Filling Out Forms

The Process

1. Contact your insurance agent.

2. Your insurance agent will guide you through your policy's claims process to determine if your damage is covered under your policy.

3. If you have forced-placed insurance coverage through First Guaranty Bank, we will assist you with making your claim through our forced-placed carrier.

Once You Receive Proceeds

Insurance proceeds checks are written to both the borrower(s) and the mortgage because all parties have an interest in the collateral.

NOTE: First Guaranty Bank does not automatically endorse checks over. Because of our interest in the collateral, we want to ensure that any damage sustained gets restored.

All insurance claim checks presented to the bank should be accompanied by a repair plan (and repair estimate if available) and the adjustor's report (if available). Once this is received, our team will review the submitted documentation to determine how the proceeds will be handled.

Do You Have an Insurance Claim Check for Review?

If you have all of the above items ready, please email these items to [email protected] so we can begin reviewing. If you have further questions, please fill out the Contact Me form.
